My life has changed much for the better since I joined the Carlson Gracie Miami family
Marcus Assis (Crossbridge Church - Assistant Pastor)
I decided to join Carlson Gracie Miami last year because I have practiced Martial Arts for twenty years. I am Black belt in Taekwon-do, Black belt in Kick Boxing, and Blue belt in Judo but, I felt something was missing. That is when I decided to learn this unique and amazing Martial Arts called Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I was captivated after the first class because the Master Michel "Buiu" Pereira is very knowledgable and professional. Also, the environment is very friendly like a big family. I recommend everyone that is interested in learning the BEST Martial Arts and wants to stay fit to come to Carlson Gracie Miami, the best school in town.

In my opinion, Jiu Jitsu is the most practical form of Martial Arts in the world. I was first introduced to it by a close friend and I loved it instantly. I love that you don't need to be the strongest to be a master of it, and that if you get the technique down you can take down a larger opponent. The Dojo has a really welcoming and friendly environment, and everyone is ready to learn from and teach each other. With all these, it's hard to resist being part of the family.

Why Join Carlson Gracie Miami?
We live in age where social media influences the minds and actions of our children. We live in age where our lives are led by electronics. We live in age where obesity is a major health risk factor in the United States. Our children finish high school and hopefully pursue a higher education.
Carlson Gracie Miami offers a place to our children where they can not only learn the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu founded by our lineage of the Gracie family, but it offers them a place to be active and also learn the tools they will need to live successful and enriched lives. Carlson Gracie teaches the key values which are Honor, Self-Respect, Courage, Integrity, Loyalty, Commitment, and Perseverance. Life can be hard at times, but at Carlson Gracie Miami our motto is “Lutar Sempre, Perder Talvez, Desistir Jamais”, which translated into English means always fight, or give it your all, you might lose at times or the outcomes might not be what you expected, but never quit or never stop trying. This motto incorporates all the values taught here at Carlson Gracie.
The students at Carlson Gracie are not simply classmates or numbers, but we consider one another as brothers and sisters of the Carlson Gracie family lineage which is introduced and taught by our leader, friend and great role model Master Michel Buiu.
I have been involved in the Martial Arts for over 35 years; I have a 3rd degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate, I hold instructor levels in Commando Krav –Maga, and a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jujitsu. I have competed in National and International tournaments in Karate, shoot fighting, and Jujitsu throughout my career. I was the first Black Belt from Florida to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championship 5, one of the first 5 No Holds Barred tournaments in the United States, and have been around a lot of great athletes and instructors. BUIU has demonstrated not only the knowledge but a true passion about what he teaches here at the Carlson Gracie Academy, his professionalism and kind heart stands out among one of the best instructors I have ever had and have dealt with. Jujitsu is not an easy art to teach, but Buiu makes it look easy with his total dedication and knowledge. Anyone that is looking to start off in BJJ I totally recommend Buiu as your life long teacher and mentor.
TESTIMONY FROM ACTUAL STUDENTS, PARENTS AND FAMILY
Well, I enrolled in the dojo because of many reasons. First, on how family oriented it is. You come in and feel part of the Carlson Gracie family. I was treated well and whenever I need help friends from the dojo will be there. I also enrolled in Carlson Gracie Miami because of how I realized my self improving and how not only my skills In jiu jitsu were improving but also my health.

There's lots of schools and coaches you can learn Brazilian jiu jitsu from. To find a school it's not hard to do, once I started at CGM I fell in love with it. When I first started BJJ at Carlson Gracie Miami 4 years ago I didn't expect to be in love with such an awesome sport I had never heard of A girl training BJJ? Such a personal contact sport? Well it's more than that. BJJ has helped me in numerous ways, maintaining a better weight, eat healthy, meet people with same interest and of course, i have acquired some skills that have showed me how i can protect myself from unexpected, unwanted turn of events. The reason why I train at CGM and I stayed is because the dojo and all the people in it, are my second family. We work together, we help each other, push each other when one is exhausted. We always have a desire to Help each other to always reach our full potential. Leaving the egos at home lol. There's a saying that says "there's no place like home" and trust me , speaking from experience that is so true. Once you are in there you will feel welcomed, we are family who's there to help you. I wouldn't train anywhere else. CGM is the place to be. You can get a week free trial and see for yourself. The first step is giving it a try, there's nothing to loose by trying.
